The collaboration between ICARUS (International Cooperation for Animal Research Using Space) and MPYC was featured in a New York Times article on June 9, 2020. The international space station will be playing a major role in assisting the center with animal tracking data of a much wider range and with greater detail. Center leader Walter Jetz was quoted in the article:

“It’s a new era of discovery,” said Walter Jetz, a professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at Yale, whose center is working with the project. “We will discover new migration paths, habitat requirements, things about species behavior that we didn’t even think about. That discovery will bring about all sorts of new questions.”
